Eventful week in Na

I apologize for the delay in this post, it has been an eventful week here in Utah and for the guys in Na.  Alan did call me on the morning of the 6th.  He and Matt were rappelling off of the last pitch of their first ice route in Na and a rock fell on Matt's hand.  Using his wilderness first responder training to good use, Alan reset one of Matt's fingers that had been dislocated.  According to Alan, Matt was in good spirits about the whole thing.  He has been climbing ice for nearly a decade, accident free and a few broken fingers he felt wasn't so bad with how long he had been climbing for.  He just wishes that it had been in Colorado or closer to home and not quite the financial and time commitment as Nepal!

Alan and Tino successfully hiked Matt down to the town where they departed from the sherpas and Matt met up with one of them and has been on his way back to Kathmandu to come back to the States. I hope to get into contact with him this next week.  Alan and Tino hiked back up to Na and are staying away from the ice until it sets up some more (good idea!).  They departed on the 8th for a four day climb on a shorter objective to better acclimatize before they try their main objective, Tengi Ragi Tau.  I should hear from him on the 12th.
